Those of you that know me know that I am mad about Twitter. I even have a number plate to that effect on my car. I have been using the social media platform for my own business for over four years @StuartAllenFCMI and have amassed a following of circa 70,000.
In 2013 I launched a local Twitter Hour to support businesses, charities and the community of Worcestershire with the theme of ‘Keep It Local’. That weekly #WorcestershireHour grew rapidly and is now by far the biggest weekly networking event in the County, with 600 people taking part. Our audience (reach) for that event has grown by one million unique Twitter accounts in the past year and we are now reaching well over 3 million unique accounts every single month!
To handle the commercial activities of #WorcestershireHour I set up a new separate business in February 2014 called Worcestershire Enterprise Ltd. This is run as a social enterprise employing one full time member of staff. We have 15 commercial sponsors including the local County Council and run business expos to raise funds.
Darren Wilkins of City Signs (@CitySigns on Twitter) in Worcester states “Twitter produces 12-15 good leads for us every single week and is by far the best vehicle we have for new business other than recommendations.”
This is a story I hear over and over again from business after business that are using Twitter correctly. However, many other businesses tell me it doesn’t work, or they can’t make it work for them. As a result they have stopped trying and in my view that is a massive mistake. Like it or not (and I love it), Twitter is a vital part of any businesses marketing strategy.
Having researched the training options for Twitter for Business I was surprised to see very little of any substance. What there was, was either too short to have any real benefit or was attempting to cover the subject along with every other social media platform known to man!
I have therefore developed 3 one-day ‘hands on’ & interactive Twitter for Business training courses under the banner of “Make YOUR Business FLY with Twitter”. The 3 levels of courses are #Essentials, #Intermediate & #Advanced. For full details on the courses, syllabus and initial course dates see the SlideShare.
At a launch price of just £100.00 +VAT per person for a FULL DAY course, these have to be the best value ‘hands on’ Twitter for Business training available in the UK. The price includes tuition, the venue with free parking & wifi and lunch and refreshments! The training centre is in the shadow of the stunning Malvern Hills.
